Celebrate Sushi Day your way on Thursday

Here are a couple of ways to celebrate International Sushi Day Thursday — one for the do-it-yourselfers, one for those who are more comfortable reclining in the lap of luxury.

Sushisamba at Palazzo, 3325 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is offering make-your-own nigiri sushi from 5 p.m. to closing Thursday. The platter has fresh raw tuna, salmon, yellowtail, shrimp and a chef’s choice, plus five balls of cooked rice, five sauces, fruits and vegetables and nori. It’s $18 per person, served to a minimum of two people.

And Katsuya at SLS Las Vegas, 2535 Las Vegas Blvd. South, will offer the Omikase Geta sushi display for $175. Enough for as many as eight people, it typically involves eight pieces of nigiri sushi, 12 pieces of sashimi, a Sahara Roll, a Special Katsuya Roll, a Negitoro Roll, baked crab hand rolls, crispy rice with spicy tuna and cucumber sunomono with tako.
