Number of EDC fans ranked by state

Hey there, camper, why don’t you go fire up the ol’ The Guestimator, it’s time to play another nail-biting round of Completely-Useless-But-Still-Fascinating-Random-Information-You-Will-Probably-Never-Use (useless unless the Geeks Who Drink cognoscenti ever turn this into a trivia question, in which case you’re all set).

Question 1: Alright, so let’s say Electric Daisy Carnival were running for office — any office, doesn’t matter, but for the sake of argument, let’s just say Minister of Rave — what states do you think it would want to campaign in the hardest, and which ones do you think would be a lock, in terms of securing the electronic vote?

And go…

Hint: The answer to the first question rhymes with North Dakota, followed by South Carolina, Washington D.C., Nebraska, Tennesse, Montana, Alaska — pretty much any state that’s not California, actually, which EDC has on lock with a record number of 61,479 attendees. California love, baby.

In case you’re wondering, it’s so not even close from there. Nevada checks in at number two with 5665, followed by Texas with 5130, New York with 3263, Arizona with 3105, Illinois with 2247, Washington with 2046, Colorado with 1887, Hawaii with 1364 and Utah with 1285. That’s your top ten.

Curious where your state lands? Keep reading — well, unless you hail from Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virgina or Wyoming. In which case, you might be disappointed by the lack of representation.

Oh, and one other thing, quick side note: These numbers are as legit as you can get, by the way, in case you’re wondering. The data is pulled directly from a super slick Insomniac program that we picked up yesterday at the EDMBiz conference in lovely Las Vegas.

Don’t know if these bad boys will be on sale at EDC or not (we don’t see them in Insomniac’s official store), but if they happen to be, buy one as soon as you walk in the gate, before you spend all your loot. You’ll want to have one of these.

Trust us: Leave room in your backpack. This thing is a hell of a great read, with some excellent graphics (and infographics like the source for this piece you’re reading right now), photographs and articles. It’s so seriously well done that it makes a great case for why print materials are still superior.
