TIME FOR A SNACK

Pinkbox Doughnuts, 7531 W. Lake Mead Blvd.

Sure, Pinkbox Doughnuts sells glazed and chocolate-cake and cinnamon-spice doughnuts, but why settle for those when you can have a bacon bar, or a Fat Elvis (a yeast-raised doughnut with peanut-butter-and-banana-cream filling with chocolate glaze and caramelized bananas on top) or a Campfire Smores doughnut or one filled with whipped cream? And, managers promise, there are plenty more flavors on the way. The classics are $1 each, specialty are $1.25 and gourmet are $1.75, or $8.50 per dozen (plus 50 cents for gourmet). Call 478-7465 or visit pinkboxdoughnuts.com.

A HEART FOR YOUR BELOVED

If you're looking for a way to show your valentine you care but don't have the money for a big splash, you can make a heart-shaped pizza instead (or an amoeba, if you're not real coordinated). Once again all locations of Sammy's Woodfired Pizza are offering their Valentine's Day Pizza Kits. They're $6.50 and include traditional, whole-wheat or gluten-free pizza dough, pizza sauce, mozzarella cheese, fresh basil, recipe and instructions. Pepperoni's $1 extra. You also get a coupon for $5 off a purchase of $20 or more, and the satisfaction of knowing that partial proceeds will be donated to the American Heart Association. The kits are available through Sunday. For locations, visit www.sammyspizza.com.
