Rom Com for everone
Last week, I wrote about action films that have something for everyone. This week, the focus shifts to romantic comedies that have a little something for every taste.
“Clueless” is a modern adaptation of Jane Austen’s novel “Emma” that follows Cher and her friends as they navigate high school and teenage love.
While this synopsis does little to inspire confidence that this will be a movie for everyone, “Clueless” does have plenty of universal humor. Anyone who was a teenager in the ‘90s will appreciate the description of high school boys of that era and how they wore their pants.
Another scene of particular interest to fathers is when Cher’s father informs her date that if anything bad happens to his daughter he has “a .45 and a shovel. I highly doubt that anyone will miss you.”
Throw on “Clueless” if you have some nostalgia for the ‘90s and are looking for a laugh.

In “You’ve Got Mail,” Joe Fox, owner of Fox Books, builds one of his big-box bookstores right near a small, independent bookstore, owned by Kathleen Kelly, and essentially puts her out of business.
Understandably, Kathleen does not have positive feelings for Joe, and the two embark on a hostile relationship. As fate would have it, unbeknownst to either of them, the pair are courting each other online.
While the story is formulaic for a romantic movie, Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan are always watchable, and the picturesque settings of New York City are beautifully intertwined with the action.
Watch “You’ve Got Mail” if you are a big Tom Hanks fan and love scenic New York City.
Ok.com users say “You’ve Got Mail” is appropriate for viewers age 9 and older and received a 94 percent “Worth Your Time” rating.
In “The Proposal,” editor Margaret Tate finds out her visa is about to expire and she will be forced to go back to Canada. Desperate to stay in the United States, Margaret uses her position to rope underling Andrew Paxton into proposing to her despite the two never having dated or even liking each other.
“The Proposal” features a very funny performance from Sandra Bullock, and Ryan Reynolds is great as the sap who gets involved in this mess.
Similarly to “You’ve Got Mail,” the film is also shot in beautiful locations that will introduce viewers to great sites in Alaska. If you had an unorthodox courtship with your significant other, you might want to check out “The Proposal.”
Ok.com users say “The Proposal” is appropriate for viewers age 15 and older and received a 74 percent “Worth Your Time” rating.
