Oscar’s dinner includes Oscar talking
He has a rich history, does former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, and plenty of memories, which means he has good stories to tell. And he’ll tell a few more of them during the next Oscar’s Dinner at 6:30 p.m. June 11 at Oscar’s Beef, Booze & Broads at the Plaza, 1 Main St.
Entree choices for the three-course dinner are smoked pork chop with apple chutney and wild mushrooms, blackened salmon with tomato and artichoke, New York strip with mashed potatoes and asparagus, or chicken with mashed potatoes and artichokes. It’s $150 per person; reservations are available by calling 702-386-7227.
The subject of the dinner will be the late Jimmy Chagra, a convicted drug trafficker who was implicated in the murder of U.S. District Judge John H. Wood — and acquitted with Goodman as his attorney. Chagra later admitted to his role in the murder in a plea bargain involving his wife, who had been convicted in the case. (A side note is that the convicted hitman was Charles Harrelson, father of actor Woody Harrelson.)
