Former Vegas performer starring in off-Broadway musical

Talk about a trip.

Tara Palsha's definitely in the midst of one — make that more than one — as the former Las Vegas dancer stars in the new New York musical "Trip of Love."

Palsha spent 11 years as a Las Vegas performer, including a stint as a principal dancer in "Vegas! The Show."

Now, she's singing and dancing in "Trip of Love," a '60s musical celebration, which is now running off-Broadway at the Stage 42 theater on New York's 42nd Street.

According to the show's program, Palsha moved to New York a little more than a year ago.

In her musical numbers, the former "Vegas!" regular (who also appeared in Planet Hollywood's "Peepshow" and various "Bill Fayne and Friends" revues) spans the decade's styles, performing everything from Lesley Gore's defiant "You Don't Own Me" (released in December 1963) to Jefferson Airplane's trippy 1967 "White Rabbit."

Another of Palsha's numbers: Shocking Blue's 1969 "Venus," which features seminude body painting (according to the New York Times' review of the show).

Other seminal '60s hits featured in "Trip of Love" include "Blowin' in the Wind," "Born to Be Wild," "California Dreamin'," "I Saw Her Standing There" and "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'."

Created, directed and choreographed by James Walski ("Saturday Night Fever," "Starlight Express"), "Trip of Love" had its world premiere in 2008 in Osaka, Japan, and began its current New York run in September. For more information, visit www.tripoflove.com.
