The story: In 1919, an Australian farmer (Crowe) travels to Istanbul in search of his three missing sons, who were last known to have fought against the Turks in the Battle of Gallipoli.

The buzz: Crowe isn’t winning many accolades for his first effort behind the camera, but critics seem to like his performance in front of it. “The Water Diviner” was named best film at the 2015 Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards, so there’s that.
