Chuckie, Redfoo among this week’s DJs
Here's your nightclub forecast, with my pick for best bets.
TODAY
■ Wolfgang Gartner DJs at Surrender. He's proved himself to be adept at creating fun original instrumentals ("Undertaker") as well as dance-pop songs ("Illmerica" and "Forever" featuring will.i.am).
■ Chuckie DJs at Marquee. The tonal range is broad for Chuckie's original songs. There's the flamboyant "Aftershock." And there's the manly, hip-hop-tinged "Let the Bass Kick," which was remixed into the classic LMFAO mash "Let the Bass Kick in Miami Bitch."
■ Also tonight: Veteran DJ Donald Glaude at RPM. DJ R3hab at XS. And Arno Cost and Hook n Sling at Haze.
SATURDAY
■ Nelly ("Just a Dream" and, of course, "Hot in Herre") performs at Haze.
■ Electro-house DJ-producer duo Dada Life ("White Noise/Red Meat") spins at Surrender. That's gonna be some fat noise up in there. (That's a compliment.)
■ The exquisite DJ-producer Calvin Harris DJs at XS. You know him for original hits "Feel So Close," "We Found Love" featuring Rihanna, and "Bounce" featuring Kelis.
■ ATB DJs at Marquee. The German trance producer is one of the world's top DJs.
■ Also Saturday: Veteran Chris Cox DJs at Chateau. Manufactured Superstars DJ at Tryst. Sean Kingston appears at RPM. (Ice-T and Coco party at Pure. Perez Hilton will hang at the Bank.)
SUNDAY
■ Morten Breum ("Every Time You Look at Me" featuring Sisse Marie) DJs at XS.
MONDAY
■ Redfoo DJs the "Party Rock" event at Marquee. Ask your clubber friends what they're wearing. It's not exactly costume-y, but it kind of is. And Diplo DJs at XS.
TUESDAY
■ DJs Jazzy Jeff, Manufactured Superstars, Irie, Spider, Ross One and Five play at XS. (The Situation struts at RPM.)
WEDNESDAY
■ Lil Jon and Vice DJ at Surrender.
