This week’s 5 best bets for music in Las Vegas

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

Hard to recall a time when such heavy debate surrounded such Wiffle-ball light jams. After sweeping the rap categories at the 2014 Grammys, hip-pop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis were accused by some of benefiting from white privilege and cultural appropriation. “Your brand of hip-hop, it’s so fascist and backwards / That Grandmaster Flash’d go slap it, you bastard, Macklemore rhymes on the duo’s latest disc, “This Unruly Mess I’ve Made,” giving voice to his critics. OK, relax, everybody. Remember, this is a dude who came to fame rapping about velour suits and house slippers. See Macklemore & Ryan Lewis at 9 p.m. Sunday at the Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan. Tickets are $50; call 800-745-3000.

MSTRKRFT

Seeing as how one half of concussive Canadian electronic-music duo MSTRKRFT hails from electro-punk ragers Death From Above 1979, it only follows that they’d bring a hard-rock bluster to the dance floor with bullying beats that work the body the way a prizefighter does the heavy bag. It’d be wise to invest in some post-show muscle relaxers should you go see ’em at 9 p.m. Friday at The Bunkhouse. Tickets are $20; call 702-384-4536.

Killswitch Engage

Heavy-metal existentialists Killswitch Engage tend to ponder life’s big questions in songs that sound dire , with larynx-bloodying shrieks and riffs that rumble like stampeding livestock, but are actually far more hopeful than hellbent. “Who can raise you from the fall and save you? Only you,” singer Jesse Leach informs on the band’s latest record, “Incarnate.” “Who can take the pain away and change you? Only you.” Tony Robbins, you’ve been served. See Killswitch Engage at 7 p.m. Saturday at Brooklyn Bowl at The Linq. Tickets are $25-$40; call 702-862-2695.

Mac DeMarco

Soft and sweet, like an economy-sized bag of musical marshmallows, Mac DeMarco’s plaintive pop is as devoid of pretense as it is of blast beats. DeMarco’s catalog is earnest and easygoing, wistful and emotionally wizened at once. Be prepared to sigh contentedly throughout the evening when DeMarco plays at the Hard Rock pool at 9 p.m. Friday. Tickets are $25; call 888-929-7849.

X 107.5 20th Anniversary: Recycled

Turn-of-the-century dude rock’s not dead, though you might argue it deserves to die depending on your stomach for baggy pants and even looser morals. Buy hey, strippers can’t do their thing to the wussy sounds of Coldplay, now can they? Thankfully for their sake, the hard-rock hornballs in Saliva and Crazy Town are still at it. See them along with Trapt, Saving Abel, 12 Stones, Alien Ant Farm and Tantric at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Orleans Arena. Tickets start at $15; 702-284-7777.
