Scratch that deathcore itch with Born of Osiris
Ever wonder what Yes would sound like while slow roasting deep in the bowels of hell?
Us too.
Well, that burning question (pun intended, dudes) has been answered, sort of, by Chicago's Born of Osiris.
This ambitious bunch buoys deathcore's trademark density (guttural, upchucked vocals; fast, choppy riffing; somebody-call-an-ambulance breakdowns) with progressive synth flourishes and touches of melodic singing that brightens the band's many dark corners.
"Close to the Edge" it isn't, but still, they're one of the few groups of their ilk that you can play air keyboard to.
