Rush fans definitely don’t want to miss this show

The next two weekends are going to be monumental for Rush fans all over the world, particularly those on the West Coast. This Saturday, of course, the Holy Triumvirate is due at the MGM Grand Garden for one of the last gigs of its R40 Tour, which is to wrap next weekend in Los Angeles — in the middle of Rushcon 15, no less, the annual gathering that celebrates all things Rush.

What makes this run seem so momentous is the fact that these shows not only mark the end of the act’€™s tour commemorating being one of the most revered and influential prog-rock bands for more than four decades, but there's talk that these dates may also wind up being the last major jaunt of the iconic Canadian trio's careers. Now whether that means the outfit will retire some songs or call it a career, that remains to be seen.

Whatever the case, you definitely don'€™t want to miss this one. The threesome — frontman Geddy Lee, drummer Neil Peart and guitarist Alex Lifeson — all of whom are sexagenarians, haven'€™t really missed a step over the years and perform about as well as they did at the beginning of their careers, which is beyond impressive.

And judging from the set lists from the most recent shows, the set is made up of more than two dozen songs from all parts of the act's catalog (if you'€™re curious and you don'€™t mind spoilers, feel free to Google to get an idea of the sequence), and they're all reportedly performed in reverse order, from newest to oldest — with the group's gear being pared back throughout the set until it'€™s notably sparser at the end.

Whether this is the coda or not, you can bet it will be a, er, rush.
