Rock in Rio: Saturday gets sexy
If people still do that thing where they name their babies after where they were conceived, you can expect an influx of young people called Strip and Circus Circus Adjacent.
Standing in stark contrast to the testosterone-fueled aggression of last Saturday, the crowd at the closing day of Rock in Rio USA was much more likely to make love than war.
Mayer Hawthorne, who took over for the ailing Sam Smith, set the mood early with “Back Seat Lover” and plenty of grind-worthy throwback soul.
Magic! had couples singing along to last summer’s anthem “Rude” and it’s “marry that girl” chorus.
Four more couples were wed in the onsite chapel.
And barefoot Brit Joss Stone covered “I Put a Spell on You,” doing just that, as couples swayed throughout her set that ended with her tossing flowers into the crowd.
By the time the dapper John Legend started crooning, and darkness had fallen over the 40-acre site, if you weren’t at least in the process of getting lucky, you weren’t trying.
