Garth Brooks makes cameo at songwriters showcase

Garth Brooks left Las Vegas fans with some lasting memories this past weekend.

And we’re not just talking about those who made it out to T-Mobile Arena on Friday and Saturday — although they were treated to quite a show.

The scene farther down the Strip on Saturday was even more memorable.

After kicking off his T-Mobile run Friday, Brooks made a cameo at a small club at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

Three songwriting veterans from Nashville were trading tunes and telling stories at Rose. Rabbit. Lie. when Brooks stepped on stage in blue jeans and a ball cap carrying an acoustic guitar.

The country star played a pair of songs with Kent Blazy, who wrote his huge hit “If Tomorrow Never Comes.”

Besides lending his name to the songwriters showcase, Brooks is well-acquainted with Blazy and the other songwriters who appeared on Saturday.

Among them, they have as many hits as Brooks. The trio, Blazy, Leslie Satcher and Bob DiPiero, have written songs for some of country’s biggest acts, including Tim McGraw, George Strait and Martina McBride.

The next edition of the Garth Brooks Songwriters Showcase is slated for 2 p.m. Saturday at Rose. Rabbit. Lie. Tickets are $75 (plus fees) and include a ticket to see Brooks at one of his T-Mobile dates.
