Battle of the Bands

After two rounds of competition that featured 16 local artists, the winner of the Life is Beautiful Battle of the Bands is due to be crowned Sunday at the Brooklyn Bowl. See which act earns a slot at this fall’s three-day festival. The event is free and starts at 6 p.m.

Rooney

After laying low for a half-dozen years or so, Rooney is back with a new album, which should please fans of the act’s polished guitar pop. Give “Washed Away” a spin, and then catch the outfit Sunday at the Bunkhouse with New Beat Fund. Tickets are $12 to $15; the show’s at 8 p.m.

Eddie Trunk

Eddie Trunk of “That Metal Show” is returning to Las Vegas on Thursday for a night of trivia, followed by stand-up from Jim Florentine and Don Jamieson, and a set of music from the Sin City Sinners All-Stars. The show’s $10 to $15 and starts at 9 p.m. at Count’s Vamp’d.

Thigh Voltage

Thigh Voltage is an all-female, Las Vegas-based tribute act that channels the highly charged rock of AC/DC. On Saturday, the group will make a stop at Count’s Vamp’d to celebrate what would have been Bon Scott’s 70th birthday with the help of fellow Vegas tribute act Children of the Grave. The show’s free and starts at 9:30 p.m.

The Curse

Cure fans can head over to the House of Blues at Mandalay Bay on Saturday and catch a set from the Curse, a Southern California-based band taking on the tunes of the Cure. Tickets are $12; the show starts at 7 p.m.
