LOVE & MERCY: Beach Boy Brian Wilson (played as a young man by Paul Dano and as an adult by John Cusack) is shown struggling to finish the legendary album “Pet Sounds” in the 1960s and struggling to rid himself of a controlling psychotherapist (Paul Giamatti) in the 1980s in this biopic. CHOCOLATE CITY: An inner-city college student (Robert Ri’chard) finds success as an exotic dancer named Sexy Chocolate. At the Palms. (91 min.) R; sexual content throughout, partial nudity, language and brief violence.

RIDE THE THUNDER: The friendship between U.S. Marine John Ripley (Eric St. John) and Vietnamese Marine Le Ba Binh (Joseph Hieu) is chronicled in this based-on-a-true-story drama. At Village Square. (106 min.) PG-13; graphic war testimonials, some violence and brief strong language.
