Feel the rootsy doom of Murder By Death
Their sound is as timeworn as their livers.
Murder By Death’s 100-proof doom folk swaggers from hot-blooded Americana played with evangelical fervor to gothic campfire tunes, the common denominator being the whiskey they all come pickled in.
Cello, accordion, mandolin, cornet and more give the quintet’s repertoire a roots music feel, their tunes populated with sinners who can’t stop sinning.
The group’s latest album, “Bitter Drink, Bitter Moon,” may bear an unforgiving title, but in its lively swing, it sounds like some of them have found solace.
