Dining Pick of the Week: Krayvings
Krayvings Restaurant
11770 W. Charleston Blvd., Suite 150, 702-945-0520
No freezer, no fryer and no microwave — that’s the commitment of Krayvings. Tucked into the southwest corner of an Albertsons-based shopping center, Krayvings takes farm-fresh food and combines the flavors in ways all about eating well. “We thought, ‘There are so many reasons to eat poorly, let’s give them reasons to eat well,’ ” said co-owner Steve Zappacosta. “… The flavors you’re experiencing are flavors coming out of the food.” There are also no lines at Krayvings: The 1,800-square-foot eatery has touch-screen ordering at each table. Orders are cooked fresh as soon as the “finish” icon is tapped. The All-day breakfast menu starts at $5 and includes bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich on whole grain roll; parfait with Greek yogurt and fruit; breakfast “superfood protein bowl” with chimichurri sauce; and waffle, ham, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. For those on the go, there is a breakfast wrap based on egg whites and sweet potato hash. A variety of salads start at $6: baby kale with shrimp and sweet potato; chopped BLT; barbecue chicken, roasted beet and baby kale; Chinese chopped chicken; and grilled steak Caesar. Steak, shrimp, chicken or tofu can be added for a few bucks more. Sandwiches include: Tuscan chicken and prosciutto; grilled steak and cheese; Italian with salami, ham, turkey, prosciutto, Provolone and Romano cheese; Mediterranean turkey with avocado; and the Krayvings Club with turkey, bacon, tomato, green apples and Dijonnaise sauce. Even the dishes here are are Earth-friendly — plates disintegrate in eight weeks, and cups and straws are made of plant material. Krayvings is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
