Fall into ‘Wicked’ ‘Horror’ this month
Come up to the lab ...
“The Rocky Horror Show” has always been a little wicked.
It’s about to be a little “Wicked.”
The national touring company of “Wicked” is taking some time out during its run at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, where the show is playing through Nov. 9, for a staged concert performance of the cult classic musical. See it at 8 p.m. Monday at the Tommy Wind Theatre, 3765 Las Vegas Blvd. South.
When the cast of “Wicked” was last here in 2012, “The Wicked Rocky Horror Show” raised $81,000 for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and Las Vegas’ Golden Rainbow, the beneficiaries of Monday’s performance.
Admission is a tax-deductible $75 donation, or $100-$200 for VIP admission that includes a pre-show reception with the cast. Attendees must be at least 16 years old.

Step right out
Gotta dance … at least at the College of Southern Nevada, where Tuesday’s free Informal Dance Concert showcases a variety of styles, and students, from ballet to ballroom, Middle Eastern to modern, jazz and even yoga, along with special presentations by the CSN Dance Club and Improvisation class. Catch all the their moves at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Nicholas J. Horn Theatre on CSN’s Cheyenne campus, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave., North Las Vegas. For more information, call 702-651-4201.
The price is light
Farm 24-7 at the Aliante, 7300 N. Aliante Parkway in North Las Vegas, is offering a $4 Light Lunch through the end of the month. Available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, selections include a half-dozen chicken wings, grilled-cheese sandwich, Caesar salad, spaghetti and marinara, or a half-sandwich and cup of soup.
Rippin’ the riffs
Skateboarders and dog-walkers will know it’s picnic time on Sunday when they hear live jazz at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 McCloud Drive. The Las Jazz Society continues its annual tradition with Tom Hall and the Boss BeBop Jazz Septet, Groove Brothers, Boneheads, the Traveling Grass Band and Bari, Bari, Bari Good all playing for free from 1:30 to 5:50 p.m.
Menace and melody
What is slut metal, you ask? We’ll let Butcher Babies singer Heidi Shepherd explain. “When girls are perceived as sexual or outspoken, they get labeled sluts, but we embrace those qualities and bring them to our music as well. Butcher Babies is true slut metal: We’re doing what we want, how we want,” Shepherd told “Revolver” magazine a few years back. So, there you have it. See the alternately melodic and menacing band at 8 p.m. Thursday at Backstage Bar &Billiards, 601 E. Fremont St. Tickets are $13 advance, $15 day of show; call 382-2227.
