B.B. King hospitalized in Las Vegas, TMZ reports

Blues legend B.B. King was hospitalized in Las Vegas over the weekend because of dehydration due to diabetes, according to a TMZ report.

King, 89, has suffered from Type II diabetes from more than two decades and is a spokesman against the disease. He cancelled eight shows on his tour last year because of dehydration and exhaustion.

King is a member of the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame, Blues and R&B halls of fame and has earned 15 Grammy Awards. Born in Mississippi, he has lived in Las Vegas for years. One of his B.B. King’s Blue Clubs opened at The Mirage in 2009 but closed three years later.

He is not only regarded as the king of blues, but he influenced the blossoming of rock and pop music, along with a few other seminal players.

King canceled quite a few gigs over the past few years while dealing with blood sugar issues and other obstacles. Mr. King, get well soon, please.

Doug Elfman contributed to this report.
