Acts added to Rock in Rio lineup
Ready to get “Lonely,” Las Vegas?
Fast-rising British singer-songwriter Sam Smith leads the latest round of artists announced for the American debut of the Rock in Rio festival over two weekends in May on the fest’s Rock City grounds at the corner of Sahara Avenue and Las Vegas Boulevard.
Smith, who’s up for six Grammy awards including Best New Artist and Album of the Year for his debut “In the Lonely Hour,” will perform during Rock in Rio’s more pop-oriented second weekend, which runs May 15-16.
Other new acts added to that weekend: Charli XCX, Echosmith, Empire of the Sun, Ivete Sangalo, Tove Lo, Magic!, James Bay and Mikkey Ekko.
The weekend before that will feature a more rock-heavy lineup on May 8-9. New bands booked for then include The Pretty Reckless, Hollywood Undead, Foster the People, Gary Clark Jr., Bleachers, Saints of Valory and Of Mice & Men.
