5 movies to look forward to in June — VIDEO
We’re a month into the summer movie season, and the offerings so far have been underwhelming at best.
Sure, “Mad Max: Fury Road” was a hoot. But “Avengers: Age of Ultron” was just OK, and “Tomorrowland” was a dud. If there’s a sequel to “San Andreas,” it needs to start with Dwayne Johnson’s rescue pilot behind bars for all the people he left to a certain death so he could save his wife and daughter.
But hope springs eternal.
Here are five movies to look forward to in June:
“Jurassic World” (June 12): Two decades after tragedy prevented it from opening, the dinosaur-based theme park is finally up in running in this sequel starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
“Inside Out” (June 19): A young girl’s emotions — Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) — are the stars of the latest animated offering from Disney/Pixar.
“Dope” (June 19): Three friends go from geeks to gangstas in this Sundance hit, which looks like it’s equal parts John Hughes and John Singleton.
“Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” (June 26): A high school senior (Thomas Mann) is forced by his mother to hang out with a fellow student (Olivia Cooke) who was recently diagnosed with leukemia in yet another Sundance favorite.
“Ted 2” (June 26): Thunder Buddies John (Mark Wahlberg) and Ted (voiced by Seth MacFarlane) fight for Ted’s right to have a baby with his human wife in this sequel..embed-container { position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.25%; height: 0; overflow: hidden; max-width: 100%; } .embed-container iframe, .embed-container object, .embed-container embed { position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%; }
