Your 5 best bets for dining in Las Vegas in the week ahead
Date night
Is one of you a beer-lover and one more fond of wine? Then the Beer vs. Wine Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Aureole at Mandalay Bay is just for you. During the dinner, a beer from Moody Tongue Brewing Company and a wine from Groth Winery will be paired with each course, with participants voting on which pairing was best. It’s $150 plux tax and tip; call 702-632-7401.
Something new
In recogntion of something old — their 25th anniversary — Viva Mercado’s Mexican Bar & Grill is offering something new, this month only. Through March 31, you can get dinner for two of a quesadilla with guacamole and sour cream, sopa de fideos and chicken fajitas for $25.
Family fun
Sunny with a chance of meatballs: In honor of National Meatball Day Wednesday, Trevi Italian Restaurant at The Forum Shops at Caesars will offer their house-made meatballs with marinara and fresh basil at the happy-hour price of $6 all day. You can fill up the kids on those, or if you’re looking for something more substantial, go with the Meatzza brick-oven pizza, topped with pepperoni, meatballs, sausage and pancetta, for $17, or spaghetti and meatballs for $21.
Solo trip
Inna Gadda di Pizza at Pawn Plaza has introduced garlic knots, six for $5. Pair ‘em with a freshly made house salad, $7, or Italian salad, $10, and you’ve solved the problem of what to have for lunch or dinner. Pawn Plaza is at 725 Las Vegas Blvd. South, next to the Gold and Silver Pawn Shop.
For friends
Got some tolerant friends who happen to be gluten-intolerant? If you’re heading to the Las Vegas Speedway this weekend, be aware that the speedway is offering gluten-free food options including panini, tacos, beef brisket and the Smokey Bacon Bloody Mary. The speedway also will offer some plain ol’ healthful selections, such as fruit, fruit smoothies and salads, all during race weekend.
