This week’s 5 best bets for dining in Las Vegas

For friends

Just in time for Las Vegas’ steamiest weather, La Cave Wine & Food Hideaway at Wynn Las Vegas has introduced a range of seasonal signature cocktails, with their roots firmly soaked in tradition, starting at $16. An example is the Basil Ginger Mojito, made with Fever Tree ginger beer, Meyer’s lime juice and fresh mint. La Cave also is offering beer flights themed to “light,” “love,” “riches” and fruit,” at $13 to $15 for four 3-ounce pours, and the restaurant’s seasonal menu includes such dishes as hamachi crudo drizzled with lemon oil and served with pickled beets, $16.

Something new

Public House at The Venetian has introduced a new summer happy hour, available through Aug. 31. From 4 to 7 p.m. weekdays, food such as pork-belly sliders, a cheese platter, country pate or lobster mac and cheese are $6 and 16-ounce drafts, well drinks and house red and white wines are $4.

Family fun

For busy parents looking for a bargain — and who isn’t these days? — Marie Callender’s has extended its kids-eat-free Tuesdays. It applies to kids 12 and younger, with the purchase of an adult entree. New deals from Marie Callender’s include a free slice of pie with the purchase of an entree on Mondays, half-priced bottles of wine on Wednesdays and $9.99 Original Burger and pie on Thursdays.

Solo trip

Here’s an idea for a quick meal on the run: Inna Gadda di Pizza at Pawn Plaza is offering a slice of pizza with one topping, a cannoli and a soft drink for $5 plus tax. It’s available from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. daily, dine-in or carry-out.

Date night

Take your honey on a picnic Tuesday without having to worry about warding off ants or packing a checkered tablecloth. A Summer Picnic at Honey Salt, which will begin at 6:30 p.m., is a four-course feast with an entree of smoked beer-can chicken, coffee-rubbed barbecued baby-back ribs and soy-glazed skirt steak. It’s $49, with optional beverage pairings for $25, at the restaurant at 1031 S. Rampart Blvd.
