Restaurant fundraisers and free pizza in Las Vegas this week

Dine out Tuesday and help a graduating student. Communities in Schools of Nevada has partnered with a number of local restaurants for Chow Down for Caps and Gowns, a fund for graduation-related costs for at-risk 2016 graduates. For a list of participating restaurants, go to www.cisnevada.org and click on “events.”

“A Wine to Remember,” a benefit for the Alzheimer’s Association Desert Southwest Chapter, will run from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at 6740 Tomiyasu Lane (the former residence of Mike Tyson). Tickets, which include wines, hors d’oeuvres and a silent auction, are $50 each or $80 for two and are available at 702-248-2770.

DB Brasserie at The Venetian will feature a seasonal tasting menu from Sunday through May 21, beginning at 5 p.m. The four-course menu with an entree of wild mushroom vol-au-vent with young root vegetables is $75. Call 702-430-1235.

Leashed pets (one per couple) are welcome at the Rockin’ Paws brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Hard Rock Cafe at the Hard Rock Hotel. The event will include live entertainment, competitions and more. Tickets, a portion of which will benefit The L Group at The Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada, are $25 in advance ($35 at the door) at the center, 401 S. Maryland Parkway, or by calling Arlene at 702-802-5411. Those bringing two cans of wet pet food to donate to Street Dogz will receive one free raffle ticket; a small bag of dry pet food will get you three.

There won’t be any lutefisk, but you can sample other Norwegian foods during the celebration of Norwegian Constitution Day from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bicentennial Park in Boulder City. Free samples of sausage in lefse, rice pudding and heart-shaped waffles (along with all-American baked beans and cole slaw) will be served, and there will be games and other activities for the kids. The event is sponsored by the Sons of Norway.

A craft beer dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Slice of Vegas at The Shoppes at Mandalay Place. The five-course menu, with an entree of bison raspberry mole, is $45. Call 702-632-6470.

Free pizza! To celebrate its grand opening, Pizza Lotto at the El Cortez will give a free slice of New York-style pizza to anyone who stops in between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Thursday.

Bratalian, 10740 S. Eastern Ave., has introduced a breakfast menu of such dishes as a smoked-salmon plate, a Mediterranean egg-white omelet and Huevos Rancheros. They’re available from 7 a.m. to noon weekdays and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekends. Bratalian now also offers a full cocktail menu.
