Strip Tips: Lose your locks to help fund cancer research

Ready to give up your hair for a good cause? Nine Fine Irishmen at New York-New York will host a St. Baldrick’s Day head-shaving event from 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday.

You can come out and watch people get their heads shaved to help raise money for cancer research. Or, you can take a seat in the barber’s chair and have your own head shaved.

There will be festivities on the hotel’s Brooklyn Bridge, including live music, drinks, food and more. Entry is free. If you want to sign up as a shavee, visit stbaldricks.org or pay $50 on-site. Shavees will receive a few perks, including a complimentary beer, two-for-one deals, free roller coaster rides and more. The event, in its fourth year at New York-New York, drew more than 200 people last year, raising more than $100,000. For more information, visit newyorknewyork.com.

Meet-and-greet

NASCAR legend Richard Childress will greet fans and sign autographs from 6 to 7 p.m. March 8 at Optica in The Venetian lobby.

Childress, who is Dale Earnhardt’s former partner, will be joined by two of his team’s drivers: his grandsons Austin and Ty Dillon. Austin was the 2012 Nationwide Series rookie of the year while his little brother, Ty, is a NASCAR Camping World Truck racer. Their Venetian appearance is free. All three will be in town for the Sprint Cup Series held at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
