STRIP TIPS: Deals, discounts and pizza
This week, buy your boo a cheap meal, a discount ticket or a piece of secret pizza. Nothing says love more than that.
CSI special
Love is a mystery, at least to some. So why not celebrate Valentine's Day by solving mysteries?
Through Thursday, CSI: The Experience at MGM Grand is offering a two-for-one deal on general admission tickets. Visitors to the attraction investigate "crimes" and hopefully solve them. There's a forensics lab at your disposal, an autopsy bay (no vivisections, please) and, most importantly, crime scenes. A trip through will take you about 45 minutes or more.
To get the deal, you must mention "Valentine's special" at the MGM Grand box office. If you take the kids, make sure they're older than 12. Call 891-7006 or visit csiexhibit.com.
Locals discount
Who says Strip restaurants are too pricey? Ri Ra in the Shoppes at Mandalay Place offers locals a 40 percent discount off lunch and dinner menus every Friday. All you need is your Nevada ID. Alcoholic beverages are exempt from the discount, and you can't combine it with other offers. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and dinner is 4 p.m. to midnight. Through Tuesday, the restaurant is also serving a Valentine's Day menu that includes a $45 prix-fixe option. That comes with a Champagne toast, appetizer, entree and dessert. Call 632-7771.
A little MAGIC
MAGIC convention attendees receive complimentary entry into the Rockhouse Bar from Monday to Wednesday. Just flash your MAGIC badge to get in. One of the main reasons to go to Rockhouse is to get the 80-ounce guitar souvenir glass. You fill it with your favorite libation and then wear it around your neck as the perfect accessory while you're on the Strip. Really. For more information visit therockhousebar.com or call 731-9683.
Question
"Is there really a secret pizza place at The Cosmopolitan? I've heard about it and friends have told me to eat there but I've never seen it. Where is it?"
Yes, there really is a "secret" pizza place at The Cosmopolitan although it's not much of a secret anymore. It's really more of an unnamed restaurant because so many people know about it now. And it's not that hard to find on a busy weekend when lines can get 20 people deep. But it has no set hours and you won't find it in the phone book. Even some hotel employees don't know where it is. Searching for it is part of the fun so I won't spoil it for those who haven't discovered it yet. Here's a hint: It's down a long hallway.
