Strip Tips: Day celebrates world’s oceans

Celebrate World Oceans Day on Saturday at Shark Reef Aquarium in Mandalay Bay and Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage.

World Oceans Day started in 2002 to bring awareness to the world’s oceans. The Ocean Project and The World Ocean Network promote the day as a chance to teach the public the ways in which oceans benefit the world. Protecting oceans and their ecosystems is also a goal.

Live dive demonstrations and children’s art projects are among the Shark Reef activities that will teach guests about World Oceans Day, featured from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For ticket information, call 702-632-4555 or visit sharkreef.com online.

At The Mirage, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., guests can participate in educational activities including discussions about the effects of plastics on marine life. There will also be an interactive scavenger hunt, a coloring and activity station for kids, games that encourage recycling and more.

For more information or tickets, visit miragehabitat.com or call 702-791-7188.

Free for dads

Dads eat free at Pampas Churrascaria Brazilian Grille in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort.

Throughout June, fathers can dine for free with the purchase of one lunch or dinner rodizio of equal or lesser value. For the uninitiated, “rodizio” is a style of service in Brazilian restaurants. Servers bring a selection of grilled meats to your table and slice hunks for you until you’ve had your fill.

For more information, call 702-737-4748.

Art show

Scotty Ziegler, an artist, sculptor and jewelry maker, will host a fine art show inside Oh My Godard Gallery in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort. Ziegler will be at the gallery from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday. For more information, call 702-699-9099.
