Strip Tips: Cinco de Mayo, ladies night and more

This week on the Strip, celebrate Cinco de Mayo, ladies night and the temporary closing of the Strip's only dive bar.

For the ladies

Ladies, you get a new night on Thursdays at Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill in Harrah's. For $10, women get a red cup that entitles them to unlimited refills on well drinks, Coors Light and Miller Lite draught beer until 2 a.m. If you're a country music fan, you know this promotion refers to Keith's song "Red Solo Cup." But you don't have to be a fan of country music to be a fan of a good deal. You must be 21 or older to participate. The promo runs from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Thursdays. There also will be live music.

Say farewell

The Rockhouse Bar & Nightclub, on the Strip in front of Imperial Palace, closes its doors Saturday night and will reopen in 2013 as part of Project Linq. But the dive bar/club will give themselves a raucous send-off with a Cinco de Mayo bash and a drink countdown until the doors close, sometime Sunday morning. Starting at 10 p.m. Saturday, drinks will be $6; the price will drop $1 after each hour until 4 a.m. After that, all drinks will be on the house until the doors close for the last time. PBR Rock Bar & Grill at the Miracle Mile Shops in Planet Hollywood Resort is throwing a Cinco de Mayo party Saturday. All day, select food items and drinks will cost $5. Among the items on the special menu are barbecue potato chip nachos, queso con carne dip with tortilla chips, chicken and cheese enchiladas and cheese quesadillas. Happy hour is from 3 to 6 p.m. and features $3 draft beers, two-for-one well drinks and $5 shot specials. Hours are 8 a.m. until closing. Call 750-1685 for more information.

Now that the Pop-Up Wedding Chapel is gone, can you get married at The Cosmopolitan?

It opened in December and closed in March. But from the beginning, the quirky wedding chapel was only a temporary thing. The concept was based on a retail phenomenon in which new venues would "pop up," provide some service and then go away. In March, The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas debuted a new pop-up concept in the same space, the EA Sports Bar. But the hotel is still doing weddings, a spokeswoman says.
