Strip Tips: Celebrate Dad

One thing you can count on about the Strip: Nearly every holiday will be honored in some way. This Father's Day weekend, treat Dad to brunch, booze, cigars and free music.

Be a Pepper for free

Reggae/rock band Pepper will perform at Volcom in Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood Resort today. The band is known for its blend of mellow island rhythm and rock riffs. The show starts at 5 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public.

Cocktails and cigars

In honor of fathers everywhere, Rhumbar is offering a cocktail and house cigar pairing on Sunday only. For $20, guests can choose from a variety of cocktails to go with a cigar blended by Litto Gomez of La Flor Dominicana. For more information, visit www.rhumbarlv.com.

Tacos & Tequila brunch

If you're looking for a way to impress Dad on Father's Day, take him to brunch at Tacos & Tequila in the Luxor. The restaurant is offering a three-course menu Sunday for $25 per person. Choices include albondigas soup, salads, chorizo-potato relleno, carne asada and more. Dessert is T&T's chocolate quesadilla, a crepe filled with Nutella, bananas and candied nuts. Free for fathers

Madame Tussauds Las Vegas in The Venetian is rewarding fathers with free admission Sunday with the purchase of a child ($15.95) or adult ($25.95) general admission ticket. Age restrictions apply. Check the website, www.madametussauds.com/lasvegas, or call for information, 862-7800. The attraction is open daily at 10 a.m.

Recognizing students

Madame Tussauds is also honoring Clark County School District's straight-A students with free admission to the wax museum. Through the end of August, students who present their most recent report cards at the box office will get in free. The students must have earned straight A's during the 2011-12 school year.

After 15 years as the lone free-standing arcade on the Strip, Game Works closed its doors earlier this year. The company is looking for a new site in town. But if you need some video game options on the Strip, the arcades are still open at New York-New York, Circus Circus and Excalibur. And The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas recently opened a pop-up video game bar.
