Six Picks: Pitbull of Comedy, Funky Nation, Doors, Foodie Fest, UNLV flicks, Cee Lo

Bobby Slayton

He tries, but he just can't stay away. Bobby Slayton, the comedian who traffics in all things wrong, seemed just right for Las Vegas in general, and Hooters Casino in particular, during his years in residence there. Now the "Pitbull of Comedy" is back for a brief visit, at 8:30 p.m. today and Saturday in the Empire Comedy Club at Paris Las Vegas. Call 877-374-7469.

Doors dudes

See two of the dudes behind the Doors when keyboardist Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robbie Krieger team up to play all the hits along with lesser-known gems like "Hyacinth House" and "Not to Touch the Earth." Don't turn out the lights, because the music's not over just yet. The show starts at 8 p.m. today at Access Showroom at Aliante Station, 7300 Aliante Parkway. Tickets are $39.95, $49.95 and $59.95; call 692-7777.

Spring Flicks

Screenings run from 6 to 11 p.m. today through Sunday in Room A-106 of the Classroom Building Complex on the UNLV campus (next to Lied Library). For more information, go to shortfilmarchive.unlv.edu.

Water St. Get there early for preshow activities, which start at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call 261-2171 or go online to hendersonlive.com.

Foodie Fest

The first Las Vegas Foodie Fest is Saturday and Sunday in the parking lot of the Silverton, 3333 Blue Diamond Road. It will celebrate all things foodie with food trucks and booths, a beer garden, a tequila tent, carnival rides and live entertainment. Hours are from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $10 at the door or $7 in advance (at LasVegasFoodieFest.com), free for children shorter than 54 inches. A portion of the proceeds will go to Three Square Food Bank.

Cee Lo Green

Cee Lo Green performs tonight at 1 Oak nightclub inside The Mirage. The pop star and "The Voice" judge has been in Vegas a lot lately. His music-magic-showgirls concerts head into Planet Hollywood Resort this fall and winter. He also just endorsed a booze company that trades in green liquor and sake. So there's that.
