Six Picks: Our experts pick their favorites for the week of June 14-20

Richard Cheese

He’s making fun of something that’s been gone so long, we actually miss it. Richard Cheese & Lounge Against the Machine is now your only way to see a smarmy, old-Vegas lounge singer butcher/improve today’s pop hits. Cheese croons at 8 p.m. Friday at Sunset Station, 1301 W. Sunset Road, Henderson. Tickets are $34 to $56; call 800-745-3000.

Brent Amaker

Get a “whiskey baptism” when Brent Amaker and the Rodeo invite fresh converts into the “Church of the Rodeo” by pouring booze down your gullet as the band’s Ennio Morricone-influenced country rides the range hard. See them at 10 p.m. Sunday at the Double Down Saloon, 4640 Paradise Road. The show is free; call 702-791-5775.

‘Before Midnight’

Richard Linklater checks in on lovers Jesse and Celine (Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy) every nine years like clockwork. First in “Before Sunrise,” then in “Before Sunset.” Now comes “Before Midnight.” Look for them again in 2022 with “Before Menopause.”

‘American Idiot’

You may not want to be an American idiot, but if you still want to see “American Idiot,” you’ve got five more chances to catch the Tony-winning portrait of alienated American youths, inspired by — and featuring songs from — Green Day’s 2004 album of the same name. “American Idiot” continues at 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, 361 Symphony Park Ave. For tickets ($24-$129), call 702-749-2000 or go online to www.thesmithcenter.com.

Oyster Riot

There will be a riot at P.J. Clarke’s at the Forum Shops at Caesars on Saturday evening — an oyster riot, that is. During the second annual Oyster Riot from 5 to 9 p.m., oysters will be $1, Nathan’s hot dogs $1, P.J. Clarke’s Famous Burger Sliders $2, Southern-style pulled-pork sandwiches $3, jumbo shrimp bloody mary shooters $5, domestic bottled beers $2 and the Beat the Heat signature cocktail, a watermelon margarita, $10.

ATB

The excellent German trance-music musician ATB performs again Friday at Marquee nightclub in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The DJ-producer is also scheduled to double-bill with Dash Berlin on Thursday at Tao nightclub in The Venetian. You know ATB for his hits “Could You Believe” and “Ecstasy.”
