Readers find local sources of bulk candy
Some readers remember bulk candy as one of childhood’s joys. They remember picking through the bins to find their favorites. For others, bulk candy is a convenience, letting them mix and match and get as much or as little of whatever types they’d like.
At any rate, readers have found local sources of it for Linda Rye.
“WinCo has bulk candy, wrapped and unwrapped,” emailed Ellen Garland, in a suggestion seconded by Kim Bush, Susan Johnson, Pam Tallent, Ann Brown and Valerie Weinberg. “They have huge bins, candy and nuts, large assortment,” Garland added.
Local WinCo stores are at 80 N. Stephanie St. in Henderson and 6101 N. Decatur Blvd. Johnson also recommended The Popcorn Lady at 1000 N. Green Valley Parkway in Henderson.
Brown, Weinberg and Elaine Frazier emailed that bulk candy also is available at Sprouts, which has five stores in the valley. And Brown said the Wal-Mart Supercenter at 5200 S. Fort Apache Road just added a bulk section. …
For Ken Anderson, who’s looking for reader suggestions for the best sweet Italian sausage in the valley (and who noted that his own favorite is from The Butcher Block), Ann Kaiser emailed that she likes the sausage sold at the butcher counter at Smith’s stores for $1 per link, Joe Iezzi said he’s sold on Trader Joe’s.
Marlene Drozd likes the sweet Italian and breakfast sausages from Branded Meats at 1550 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson, Phil Mlynek suggested the house-made sausage at the Tap House at 5589 W. Charleston Blvd. and Frazier recommended Sprouts markets. …

From Monday through June 26 is Las Vegas Restaurant Week (or, Las Vegas Restaurant 12 Days), when more than 140 local restaurants offer special menus, both to help drive business and as a benefit for Three Square food bank. The special menus range from $20.15 to $50.15, with a fixed portion ($4, $5 or $6) donated to Three Square for every menu sold.
