PUBLIC SCHOOL 702, 1850 FESTIVAL PLAZA DRIVE, DOWNTOWN SUMMERLIN

Public School 702, which opened June 8, is the seventh Public School location, with outposts also in Culver City, Thousand Oaks and Sherman Oaks, Calif., and Dallas. With a subtext of “an education in the art of food and beer,” it’s a gastropub that specializes in American food, including many familiar favorites with updated twists. The decor has touches reminiscent of a classic schoolhouse, such as lab-style communal tables with stools and schoolhouse-style lighting, including suspended lighted world globes. There are beer-pong tables, shuffleboard and oversized Jenga on the patio. Entertainment includes karaoke on Wednesdays and DJ’s on Saturdays. Here’s a sample of the menu:
