Dining Pick of the Week: Mochiko Chicken
Mochiko Chicken
2101 S. Decatur Blvd., 702-789-7103
After years of living life in the fast lane, Mochiko Chicken owners Jerry Misa and Sandra Lenska have finally settled down. The couple once owned Dragon Grille, an Asian fusion food truck, and attended local festivals. But with customers’ support and funds raised through the crowdfunding website Kickstarter, they sold the truck and opened Mochiko Chicken in August. The restaurant is popular for lunch or a casual night out with the family. Three sizes of chicken finger platters are available and include fries, a Hawaiian sweet roll, coleslaw, a drink and one of nine original dipping sauces: Mochiko Sauce, Polynesian Sauce, Twisted Teriyaki, Buttermilk Ranch, Mandarin Sweet Chili, Honey Dijon, Sriracha Sambal Aioli, Wasabi Ranch and Coconut Curry. Six types of rice bowls also are available, including the Srirachi (char grilled chicken tossed in chimichurri sauce and drizzled with Sriracha Sambal Aioli), the Coconut Curry (char grilled chicken drizzled with Coconut Curry and topped with Craisins) and the Hawaiian Hen House (fried egg, toasted sesame seeds and Polynesian Sauce). Stir-fry vegetables can be added to the rice bowls for $1. Drinks include soda, water and lychee lemonade made from the Chinese-native fruit. Meals range from $6.99 to $9.99. Mochiko Chicken is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit mochikolasvegas.com.
