Dining Pick of the Week: Frijoles Grilled Tacos
Frijoles Grilled Tacos
7000 W. Charleston Blvd., 702-240-2750
If the name doesn’t give it away, we’ll spell it out: Frijoles Grilled Tacos prides itself on serving authentic Mexican food. The eatery sits a few blocks west of Rainbow Boulevard on the northwest corner of Antelope Way, but it would fit in well on any street corner in Tijuana, Mexico. Once a fast-food joint, the interior is a mix of red banquet seating and booths. Patrons order at one end of the counter, and their food is brought to the table. The menu offers various Mexican favorites such as tacos in soft tortillas. They can be customized by ordering them with your choice of meats — chicken, marinated or fried pork, steak or shrimp, or vegetarian style. The more adventurous can also opt for de lengua (beef tongue) or cabeza (head) as their meat choice. Burritos, mini tacos, tostadas and quesadillas are also on the menu. Like the tacos, they can be crafted to one’s taste buds through the selection of meats and extras such as avocado and sour cream. It should be noted that frijoles (beans), so prevalent in the signage, are just a side dish here. Other side dishes are Mexican street corn, chips and salsa, and chips and guacamole. There are three combo meals starting at $7.48 — the taco meal with rice, frijoles and a soda, the burrito meal with chips and salsa, and the mini taco meal (two mini tacos) with rice, frijoles and a soda. Frijoles Grilled Tacos is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. For more information, visit frijolesandfrescas.com.
