Dining Pick of the Week: Martinez Taco Bar
Martinez Taco Bar
6885 Aliante Parkway, Suite 106, 702-912-4326
Aliante residents looking to escape chain restaurants and find authentic Mexican food near home need look no further than Martinez Taco Bar. Tucked inside the Aliante Marketplace Smith’s shopping center, the family-owned restaurant is decorated in a Day of the Dead theme complete with artwork by Florida painter Heather Calderon, featuring festive skeletons enjoying traditional dishes. Clear glass casks on the counter are brimming with horchata and auga fresca. A chalkboard menu on the wall is packed with a variety of seafood, burritos, bowls, taquitos, tostadas, tortas sandwiches, quesadillas, salads and more. Tacos, as the eatery’s name hints, are the star. Street tacos featuring steak, chicken, pork or beef tongue, topped with onions and fresh cilantro, are $2. The Martinez Taco, a more deluxe dish featuring a larger tortilla, double the meat of the street tacos and cheese, pico de gallo and guacamole, ranges from $3.55 for the chicken to $3.75 for the steak. Breakfast combos include two eggs, potatoes and beans. Indulge in the chalaquilles breakfast combo with red or green sauce, huevos rancheros combo or the huevos divorciados combo for $6.99. A kids meal with a cheese quesadilla or bean and cheese burrito, fries and a drink is $4.99. Watch as the food is prepared behind the counter in the open kitchen and help yourself to the salsa bar. Martinez Taco Bar is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Takeout is available. For more information, visit facebook.com/martineztacobar.
