Fans go wild over Channing Tatum’s plans for male revue in Vegas
Channing Tatum is turning the box-office blockbuster “Magic Mike” into a male revue featuring 3-D in March 2017 at the Hard Rock Hotel.
While Tatum won’t be a cast member of “Magic Mike Live,” the announcement of the new show on Wednesday ignited a frenzy usually reserved for pop star sensations.
A video on Tatum’s personal Facebook page was flooded with more than 1.5 million views in less than a day. The page received more than 67,000 likes, 25,000 shares and 20,000 comments.
Dave Kirvin, a partner in the public relations firm (Kirvin Doak) that handled the release, said the response was “off the charts,” the most dramatic in the company’s more than 10 years of doing show and special announcements.
Kirvin added, “Within the first hour of the press release going out, one late-night talk show called to book the guys, two national magazines reached out promising cover stories; more than a dozen national media outlets called for interviews.”
Tatum, 36, is directing the revue, which is based on the hit movie “Magic Mike” and the sequel, “Magic Mike XXL.” He plays Mike Lane, a handyman-turned-stripper.
HENRY TAKEN OFF AIR
Ed Henry, Fox News’ chief White House correspondent, has been taken off the air after a Las Vegas celebrity stylist/hostess claimed they had an affair.
Natalia Lima, 35, told In Touch magazine the affair began last spring, through social media, and lasted 10 months.
Fox News issued a statement on Wednesday, saying, “We recently became aware of Ed’s personal issues and he’s taking some time off to work things out.”
Henry, 44, married Shirley Hung at the Wynn Las Vegas in June 2010. I attended the wedding.
Lima, who grew up in Washington state, also goes by Natalia Corrine and Natalia Albrandt, her given name.
One of the In Touch photos shows Lima and Henry embracing outside a building, suggesting a photographer was tipped off.
Contacted by telephone before the story came out, Henry told an In Touch reporter, “I don’t know anything about it,” and hung up, the magazine said.
“We made sure he received every detail prepublication so he could respond,” David Perel, editorial director of In Touch, told The Washington Post.
Perel added, “There has been no refutation of any bit of this story, which as u know is backed up with extensive documentation.”
The Review-Journal learned Lima’s story was shopped to several media outlets.
Henry did not respond to the RJ’s request for comment by deadline.
