MURREN: NO CONVERSATIONS WITH REID ABOUT PROSTITUTION
February 23, 2011 - 8:21 am
MGM Resorts International chairman Jim Murren said he had no conversations with U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., about the senator’s position to ban prostitution in Nevada.
Murren said he was not aware of Reid’s comments before the Nevada legislature on Tuesday and added he was “going stay out of this debate” until he reviewed the context.
However, in an interview late Tuesday, Murren said the issue of prostitution “has never come up” in discussions with executives being recruited by MGM Resorts.
The question he’s asked most often by out-of-staters, said Murren, is about the quality of education.
Nevada has “an unfair stigma based on a lack of understanding,” he said.
