Sinatra attorney mocks impressionist’s drama

The attorney who represents the Frank Sinatra estate scoffed at the idea the family might shut down Bob Anderson’s Sinatra show at the Palazzo.

“Do you honestly believe that six months into the run of the show the Sinatra Estate is getting around to ‘taking legal action?’ ” Robert Finkelstein said in an email.

He was responding to comments by Anderson suggesting the Sinatra family is unhappy with him for fronting “Frank: The Man. The Music.”

Anderson, a longtime vocal impressionist, told a crowd at The Smith Center’s Cabaret Jazz that he had approached the Sinatras to get their blessing.

“They know about it and they wish I would stop, and I’m not going to,” he said to loud applause.

His comments came during the latest “Conversations With Norm,” a quarterly interview series with celebrities. The show, titled “Remembering Sinatra,” featured Anderson, Pia Zadora, who toured with Sinatra, and Vincent Falcone, Sinatra’s conductor for the better part of a decade.

Finkelstein characterized Anderson’s remarks as “a self-serving declaration obviously designed to create controversy for the sole purpose of garning publicity.”

Finkelstein, who has been the family’s gatekeeper for 30 years, added, “The Sinatra family neither endorses nor denigrates Mr. Anderson.

“There is one Frank Sinatra, and there will always be one Sinatra.”
