Michael Buble putting career on hold after revealing son’s cancer diagnosis

LOS ANGELES — Michael Buble has put his singing career on hold following his son’s cancer diagnosis.

The Canadian crooner and his wife, model Luisana Lopilato, recently learned of their 3-year-old son Noah’s illness.

Entertainment Tonight Canada reports that the family traveled to the U.S. to seek treatment for Noah for what they initially thought to be mumps. Doctors diagnosed Noah with cancer, but the type of cancer has not been reported.

Buble and Lopilato posted the following statement on his Facebook page on Friday.

“We are devastated about the recent cancer diagnosis of our oldest son Noah who is currently undergoing treatment in the US. We have always been very vocal about the importance of family and the love we have for our children. Luisana and I have put our careers on hold in order to devote all our time and attention to helping Noah get well. At this difficult time, we ask only for your prayers and respect for our privacy. We have a long journey in front of us and hope that with the support of family, friends and fans around the world, we will win this battle, God willing.”

Buble’s album Crazy Love debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 back in 2009.

Among his most popular hits include “Sway” and “Haven’t Met You Yet.” He’s won the Best Traditional Pop Album Grammy four times, most recently in 2014.

Buble and Lopilato have a second son, Elias, who was born in January.
