Video game news from Vegas

Man, I had been looking forward to attending Wednesday's GameStop Expo at the Sands for months, but I got medicated-housebound by laryngitis.

So I wish I could report it to you from the event, which drew 3,000 gamers, but I have to settle for recapping news reports from others.

— Microsoft and GameStop stores will be the only places Xbox fans will be able to shell out $500 for the Nov. 3 release of the Xbox One Elite Bundle, which will house a 1 terabyte solid state hybrid drive, promising to speed up various processes, in addition to offering all that storage space. It'll come with a partially customizable hand controller.

— Sony will sell an exclusive aqua blue handheld PS Vita in November for $200. I love PS Vita, but there has never been enough games for it. Some people hack their Vitas to play Android games on it, although Sony should just put out a PS Vita/Android phablet combo at $450 and reap the rewards. I'd buy that.

— And Nintendo announced developments for its handheld 3DS systems, but Nintendo too would get my money if it would release a 7-inch-screen Android phablet with Nintendo store and LTE capabilities for, say, $450. But I'm not holding my laryngitis breath.
