Murphy's family denies drug use

In an interview Tuesday, Brittany Murphy's mother, Sharon, and the actress' husband, Simon Monjack, said she did not use drugs or alcohol. They are awaiting a ruling from the coroner's office on what caused the actress' Dec. 20 death. She was 32. Monjack says the prescription drugs found at the couple's home were his. "She had a fear of dying," Sharon Murphy said. "She would not take too much caffeine. She wouldn't even have a glass of champagne on New Year's. She was just high on life, and people see that as something else I guess."

Winehouse pleads guilty

Singer Amy Winehouse was given a fine and a warning to stay out of trouble by a judge Wednesday after she pleaded guilty to assaulting a theater manager. Winehouse was ordered to pay her victim 185 pounds ($300) and was given a conditional discharge, which means she will avoid further repercussions as long as she doesn't commit any offenses for two years. Winehouse was arrested during a Dec. 19 performance of the pantomime "Cinderella," starring Mickey Rooney. She admitted drinking five vodka and cola drinks before the show.

Sheen's wife hospitalized

Yale Galanter, the attorney for Charlie Sheen's wife, Brooke, said Wednesday she was in intensive care at Sherman Oaks Hospital in Los Angeles. Galanter said Brooke Sheen had a fever of 105 degrees when she was admitted. He said the fever stems from an infection she developed after oral surgery. Charlie Sheen was arrested on Christmas after a domestic dispute with his wife. He has denied those charges. Galanter says a hearing on the case scheduled for Friday has been postponed.
