Locals only: Collector cars featured at auto auctions

Because sometimes the Strip just isn’t flashy enough, 75 collector vehicles will be driven down it Wednesday afternoon during the sixth annual Barrett-Jackson road rally.

The autos will be lined up in the Las Vegas Convention Center’s gold lot, 3150 Paradise Road, at 2 p.m. At 3 p.m., they’ll be driven down Convention Center Drive to the Strip before ending in the southeast parking lot at Mandalay Bay, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

It’s part of the company’s weekend full of collector car and “automobilia” auctions that are expected to fetch millions at Mandalay Bay.

Among the featured vehicles are a 1931 Lincoln Model K convertible coupe, a 1948 Packard Series 22 Woody Wagon, a 1968 Shelby Gt350 convertible and a 1970 Plymouth Superbird two-door hardtop.

Automobilia auctions are scheduled 9-11 a.m. Sept. 26-28, with the collector car auctions following each day at 11 a.m.

Tickets for Sept. 26-27 are $19.75 for adults and $14.75 for ages 6-12, 55-plus, and students and military with ID. Tickets for Sept. 28 are $22.75 and $15.75. Three-day passes are $53.25 for adults, $42.25 for seniors, students and military, and $30.25 for ages 6-12.

Project Dinner Table

After its annual summer hiatus, Project Dinner Table will rev up again this weekend, with food by Bellagio chefs Royden Ellamar and Edmund Wong. The event begins at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Tickets are $175 for members, $190 for nonmembers and are available at www.ProjectDinnerTable.com. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House and the Orion Cancer Foundation.
