Encore Beach Club dresses up pool setting with lavish amenities

For a while, pool parties and day clubs seemed to be a trendy fad for Las Vegas, something to keep the tourists busy until the next best thing came along.

Then Steve Wynn decided to build a venue, taking the best of the other day clubs and adding his signature Wynn touches. The result is Encore Beach Club, a pool party nearly unrivaled for its attention to luxurious amenities.

Bungalows and cabanas feature patios, private spas, bathrooms, showers, even air conditioning. Some are two-story structures, providing enough space for partyers that they would be hard-pressed for a reason to leave the pool.

Expect to find the typical pool party amenities at the beach club, too, including DJs and special events.

"Every place in Las Vegas has something special about it," says Larry Murphy, vice president of marketing for Las Vegas Nightlife group. Headed by managing partner Sean Christie, the Nightlife group operates the pool. Christie also operates Surrender nightclub at Encore and Blush at Wynn. "The Wynn touch is really intricacies. The lavish drapes, the lighting fixtures. It's really about dressing things up."

The beach club is open Thursdays for a nighttime pool party from 10:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. The club is open noon to 7 p.m. Fridays and Mondays and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.

Cover charges are $20 for women and $30 for men on Fridays; $30 for women and $40 for men on Saturdays; and $30 for women and $50 for men on Sundays. Admission is always free for local women. On industry nights, Mondays, all locals get in free.
