Apparently, the original Animals took "We Gotta Get Out of This Place" literally. None of them has toured with Eric Burdon in decades. But that's OK. Who remembers anyone but the singer? LOS LOBOS

Los Lobos is Spanish for the Lobos. Just funnin' ya. It means the wolves, which explains the title of the Mexican-American band's most popular album, 1984's "How Will the Wolf Survive?" A quarter-century later, these wolves are not only still surviving, but with virtually the same lineup. Watch them attack the Silverton, 3333 Blue Diamond Road, at 8 p.m. Saturday. NEVADA POPS

Even if you know nothing about classical music, you can bring a date to "Encore!" and not appear dumb. Performed by the Nevada Pops under the direction of Richard McGee, the bill will include songs from "The Lion King, "Superman," "Mission: Impossible" and other things you can actually name. Batons swing at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Artemus Ham Hall at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, 4505 Maryland Parkway. SOUTH POINT OPEN CUTTING

Cutting horses is not something sick that should be reported to the ASPCA. It's a competition to see how well riders and their horses can separate cows from their herds. The horsing around starts at 8 a.m. and lasts until at least 4 p.m. today through Sunday at the South Point Equestrian and Events Center, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Admission is free; call 797-8055.
