Bennett says he’s coming to Vegas for Sinatra tribute
Details are popping as Steve Wynn continues to tweak his 100th birthday blowout honoring Frank Sinatra on Dec. 12.
Tony Bennett, while performing at the Kennedy Center with Lady Gaga last Friday, told the crowd he had committed to the event, which will be aired as a CBS special from the Encore Theater at the Wynn hotel-casino.
To no one's surprise, Sinatra favorite Steve Lawrence will be among the lineup, which has yet to be announced.
His presence is certain to be one of the emotional highlights of the evening. Members of the Sinatra family will be attending the tribute.
It would be Lawrence's first public performance since his death of his wife, Edyie Gorme. Monday was the second anniversary of her passing.
Steve and Edyie opened for Sinatra during many of his tours.
Lawrence has dedicated much of his time recently to producing a three-CD set titled "Edyie Gorme: An American Treasure." One CD features her hits, another has Steve's favorite songs of hers, and the set concludes with songs she didn't release.

Ben Affleck and his nanny, together in Las Vegas? What could possibly go wrong? Reports surfaced Tuesday that it was the last straw in Affleck's marriage. The story starts in the Bahamas, where Affleck and his family are vacationing. Affleck invited nanny Christine Ouzounian to join him on a private jet with New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. The original plan was the nanny would not be making a stop in Las Vegas, instead continuing on to Los Angeles. Affleck and Brady had a commitment to a charity poker tournament here. But Ouzounian joined Affleck in Las Vegas, according to reports. Affleck's wife, Jennifer Garner, fired Ouzounian after learning the nanny didn't go directly to Los Angeles.
