UB40, Third Eye playing wine fest

Time to hear "Red Red Wine" with some actual wine.

Hear reggae revisionists UB40's hit take on the Neil Diamond chestnut at the fifth annual "Rock n' Roll Wine Amplified Festival," which kicks off Friday at Mandalay Bay Beach.

With six bands, two stages and 150 wines, "Amplified" is two days of not-so-sour grapes and sounds.

On Friday, the fest gets going with "Bubbles & Chocolate presented by Moet Hennessey," a special event at Moorea Beach Club at Mandalay Bay Beach with champagne tastings and a set from UB40 on the beach stage.

On Saturday, radio-friendly rockers Third Eye Blind highlight a day of fine spirits and dining, with food offered from Mandalay Bay eateries Fleur De Lys, Aureole, StripSteak, Mix and Shanghai Lilly.

Doors open at 8 p.m. Friday and 7 p.m. Saturday at Mandalay Bay Beach, 3950 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $55 for Friday, $65 for Saturday, $75 for VIP passes and $110 for two-day passes. For more information, call 240-3066.
