Summer’s ending, but Drake keeps it hot on the Strip

Meek Mill can say whatever he wants about Drake. Even if somebody else did indeed write the latter's rhymes, as the former claims, the fans seem to be undaunted, and his star is burning as bright as ever.

Fact is, Drake is one of the hottest rappers in the game right now. That's not hyperbole. That's fact. The numbers don't lie. He's outselling everybody, and by a wide margin. His latest effort, "If You're Reading This It's Too Late," has moved more than a million units since being released in February.

That's platinum status, a distinction not too many artists can stake claim to these days. What makes it even more impressive is the fact that all those sales were racked up digitally, from a release that wasn't preceded by a massive PR campaign.

Before his well-publicized beef with Meek Mill, who claimed that Drake got over with a ghostwriter, the Toronto-based rapper already had plenty of people's attention. So it was a bad look to begin with for the Philadelphia-based Meek Mill to take Drake to task. It was even more regrettable when Drake returned fire with a pair of searing singles that bested him in battle.

And the mononymous MC's momentum shows no signs of waning. Drake's next album, the eagerly anticipated "View from the 6," is reportedly on the way this fall, and in the meantime, he's retaining his relevancy by guesting on tracks from an array of rising stars such as Fetty Wap and his proteges PARTYNEXTDOOR. Catch Drake on Sunday at Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas as part of Kevin Hart's Hartbeat Weekend.
