UNLV Opera Theatre stages Handel piece
The UNLV Opera Theatre will perform Handel's "Alcina" at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday in the Black Box Theatre in the Alta Ham Fine Arts Building on the campus of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, 4505 S. Maryland Parkway.
Based on the epic poem "Orlando Furioso," the opera centers on obsessive love, sorcery and disguise.
The cast of graduate and undergraduate students will be directed by Christine Seitz, assistant professor of voice and director of the UNLV Opera Theatre.
The UNLV Chamber Orchestra will be conducted by Taras Krysa and Phillip Lenberg. Margot Mink Colbert will provide the choreography.
Tickets are $15 for adults; $8 for seniors, military, faculty and staff; and $5 for students with ID.
