Musician Perlman to perform, conduct
A double dip of violin virtuosity graces Las Vegas next week when Itzhak Perlman drops by.
At 8 p.m. Wednesday, the legendary musician will wield his potent Stradivarius at UNLV's Performing Arts Center as part of the Charles Vanda Master Series.
Then at 8 p.m. Jan. 26, he returns as conductor, taking up the baton to lead the UNLV Symphony Orchestra for the university's 50th Anniversary Concert, featuring Perlman protege violinist Rachel Lee. To mark the event, the orchestra also will feature UNLV alumni, as well as current and former faculty.
During the past 10 years, Perlman has assumed the conductor's podium for a slew of symphonic concerts, including fronting the New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, London and Israel philharmonics, and the Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia symphony orchestras.
Tickets are $45, $60 and $90 for the Wednesday concert, and $30, $45 and $75 for the Jan. 26 performance.
Tickets can be purchased by calling the Performing Arts Center box office at 895-2787 or visiting pac.unlv.edu. The box office is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays to Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
